Jennifer Maxwell – Innovation in Practice

Hoot Hoot Hooray Jennifer Maxwell (1)

Congratulations to Jennifer Maxwell, Couchiching Family Health Team OTN Coordinator (Nurse)

Jennifer is nominated in the Innovation in Practice category for implementing creative solutions or improvements. Jennifer was nominated anonymously– here is what her nominator said:

Jen Maxwell has done more than oversee and successfully run the OTN program for the CFHT over the years. She has been immediately accessible via EMR messaging to ensure reduced burden on this family physician, and many others, in sending both OTN and econsult requests. She is responsive to the ways these systems don’t work well for referring physicians (daily personal emails when consults are in the EMR for example) and is quick to troubleshoot. She takes the search and follow-up burden off the referring family physician and she closes the loop in a timely and effective way. And she has just done this because it helps, not because she had to, and she is in tune with the challenges. Jen just makes things better in the day to day office practice for this family doc and many others.

I think Jen Maxwell (JLM) embodies the ideal “central referral agent” in how she so smoothly and effectively approaches problems, and just fixes them. Thank you, Jen,  so much for all that you do for our team, and for our patients – by improving their access and their providers’ access to consultant information with a lot less time lost and a lot less frustration with clunky process. We could use 4 or 5 JLMs.
