Lucienne Ballentine – Compassionate Care Champion

Hoot Hoot Hooray Lucienne Ballentine

Congratulations to Lucienne Ballentine, a Personal Support Worker with LOFT Community Services Hub and Spoke program.

Lucy is nominated in the Compassionate Care Champion category for exceptional patient-centered care. Lucie was nominated by Stephanie Boehm, Coordinator of Complex Care and Assisted Living for LOFT’s Hub and Spoke program. Here is what Stephanie had to say:

“Everyone should be so lucky to have a Lucy on their team. She is a team player, but also she is the reason that so many people smile. No matter the situation, she takes the challenge on, knowing how she would want to be supported in her later years of life and uses this mindset when coaching others who are feeling overwhelmed with behaviours, or challenges in their community appointments.

I can’t give one example. What I can provide is a series of events. Our team was forced to downsize (budget cuts). This meant a lot of hard choices had to be made and different clients had to be pushed on to unfamiliar PSWs, at least part time. It has been over six months. I have an amazing team. Every call I get from the clients open with I really like the PSWs that come and they do an amazing job. I also really miss Lucy. They all call and beg to have Lucy back. Lucy is a part time employee and is also our highest in demand. Clients all say the same thing. I just feel happier when Lucy has been here. And we all know it’s true because we say the same thing around the office. The world is a better place with Lucy and it is missing something, on the days that she isn’t there. Beautiful spirit!!!!”
