Renee Wilkinson – Leadership in Equity

Hoot Hoot Hooray Renee Wilkinson

Congratulations to Renee Wilkinson,  a Personal Support Worker with LOFT Community Services Hub and Spoke program.

Renee is nominated in the Leadership in Equity category for advancing health equity and inclusion. Renee was nominated by Stephanie Boehm, Coordinator of Complex Care and Assisted Living for LOFT’s Hub and Spoke program. Here is what Stephanie had to say:

“Renee is a champion of the LGBTQ++ community and she supports our team’s learning journey. She supports clients on their journeys of self-discovery and provides education and coaching along the way. Renee creates a safe space for all.

There are so many stories I could share, but in the interest of being mindful to not share any descriptive information, I will try to be discreet. Renee was discussing with a student staff member about how she supported someone close to her through their transitioning journey and how this impacted her. She shared details that most others could not share and supported staff who gathered to hear this story with an understanding and learning that they would not otherwise have gained. This provided unmatched learning for all who were there. She then was able to explain to the staff and students how certain things impacted clients on our caseloads that she and others see and supported a safe learning environment, where staff felt comfortable to ask questions they may not have known how to ask before, thereby, creating a higher level of care team, for those who see our LGBTQ++ community members in their homes.”
